What is the ruling on saying: "O Allah, we do not ask You to avert the decree, but we ask You for leniency in it"? And how can it be reconciled with "Nothing averts the divine decree except supplication"? And is the last Hadith authentic?

The aforementioned supplication is not a Hadith and contradicts what has been authentically reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, that "nothing averts the Divine decree except supplication," and his saying, "When one of you supplicates, let him be firm in his request, and let him not say: 'O Allah, if You will, grant me,' for indeed, Allah has no one who can compel Him."
