What is the ruling on a suitor's interaction with women—his customers—through laughter, joking, and communication with them via Facebook, under the pretext that the nature of his work necessitates it?

Working in mixed environments often entails risks and temptations, especially the temptation of women, which the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, warned against. If the suitor is lenient in his interactions with girls at his workplace, he must repent to Allah. The girl should choose a man of religion and good character for her marriage, for a man of religion and good character will honor his wife if he loves her, and will not wrong her if he dislikes her. If the young man repents and straightens his path, then that is excellent. Otherwise, it is better to annul the engagement to avoid future problems, as an engagement is merely a promise, and it is permissible to annul it when necessary.
