What should a person do who used to dispose of donation funds designated for a specific entity by spending from them personally or giving them to one individual, and has now repented and wishes to atone for her sin, but is unable to pay a large sum all at once?

She must return the money she spent on herself or gave to someone other than the one specified by the donor, and return it to the party intended by the donors, or to them directly. There is no need to inform them of her betrayal of the trust; rather, it is sufficient to return the money by any means, such as a donation from another person, to clear her conscience. The Permanent Committee has issued a fatwa stating the obligation to repent and return the money to the poor, or to return it to the association through a trustworthy person on behalf of a benefactor.
