The answer

Death is one of Allah’s signs that He decreed upon His servants. The states of the deceased are among the unseen matters that Allah has veiled. There is no evidence that whoever buries the deceased sees good or bad things based on the deeds of the deceased. However, among the signs of the righteous is that a servant is guided, before their death, to avoid what displeases their Lord, to repent, and to engage in acts of obedience. This is supported by the hadith: "When Allah wills good for His servant, He employs him." They said: "How does He employ him?" He said: "He guides him to a righteous deed before his death." There are many signs of a good ending, such as uttering the Shahada, dying with sweat on the forehead, dying on the night or day of Friday, and martyrdom in battle. Among the signs of a bad ending is for a person to die while committing a sin.
