What are the methods of acquiring knowledge and what are the obstacles that face its seeker?

There are two paths to acquiring knowledge. The first: receiving it from reliable books by authors known for their knowledge, trustworthiness, and sound عقيدة (creed). However, this path requires a long time and great effort, and it may lead to weak knowledge that lacks rules and principles, consequently leading to errors. The second: receiving it from a teacher who is trustworthy in their knowledge and دين (religion). This path is faster and more precise for acquiring knowledge, as it allows for discussion and back-and-forth, which opens many doors for the student in understanding, verification, and defending correct statements. If a student combines both paths, that would be more complete and perfect. They should start with what is most important, then with summaries before extensive works, and progress gradually in their learning.
