The answer

The acceptance of a supplication does not always signify the righteousness of the supplicant. A disobedient person's prayer may be answered as a gradual enticement (istidraj) or for a divine wisdom, just as Satan's supplication was answered. The prayer of the oppressed is answered even if the person is a sinner. Conversely, the non-acceptance of a supplication does not indicate the corruption of the supplicant, for Allah withheld the acceptance of some of the Prophet's (peace be upon him) prayers for a divine wisdom.
