The answer

It is not permissible for this woman to abort her fetus merely because she is frail, sick, or has young children, unless trustworthy doctors determine that her life is in danger, in which case the lesser of two harms is committed. Aborting a fetus is destruction of offspring and corruption in the land, and the husband's consent does not justify it. The woman and her husband must make sincere repentance and perform many supererogatory acts of worship. They are also liable for the blood money (diyah) for aborting the fetus, which is a ghurrah, and its value is one-tenth of the mother's diyah.
