The answer

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Charity does not decrease wealth." There are several aspects to this increase: God may bless what remains of the wealth, or God may replace what was given in charity with provision equal to or exceeding it, or the reward God stores for the servant in the Hereafter is incomparable to the small amount of wealth spent in this world. Allah Almighty says: "The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allah multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allah is all-Encompassing and Knowing."

In the Two Sahihs, it is narrated from Abu Hurayrah that he said: "There is no day wherein the servants wake up but two angels descend, and one of them says: 'O Allah, give compensation to the one who spends,' and the other says: 'O Allah, inflict destruction upon the one who withholds.'"

The intent is that there is much good in charity, and the one who gives charity awaits recompense from Allah Almighty and blessing in what remains of their wealth.
