What is the authenticity of the Hadith: “Increase your recitation of ‘La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah (There is no might nor power except with Allah),’ for it is from the treasure of Paradise,” narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), and what is the authenticity of Mak’hul’s addition: “Whoever says: ‘La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah, wa la manja minallahi illa ilayh (There is no might nor power except with Allah, and there is no refuge from Allah except in Him),’ Allah will remove from him seventy doors of harm, the least of which is poverty”?

The aforementioned Hadith has two parts:

1. The part elevated to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Increase in saying: 'There is no power nor strength save in Allah,' for it is from the treasure of Paradise." This chain of narration is weak because Makhul did not hear it directly from Abu Hurayrah. However, it has an authentic origin in Al-Bukhari and Muslim from the Hadith of Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari with the wording: "O Abdullah ibn Qais, say: 'There is no power nor strength save in Allah,' for it is a treasure from the treasures of Paradise."

2. Makhul's saying: "Whoever says: 'There is no power nor strength save in Allah, and there is no refuge from Allah except to Him,' seventy gates of harm will be removed from him, the least of which is poverty." This statement is authentic from Makhul himself, but it cannot be used as proof because it is the saying of a Tabi'i (successor) and requires an authentic chain of narration from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. Several elevated Ahadith have been reported with a similar meaning, but they are not authentic; some of them are Munkar (rejected), or Mawdu' (fabricated), or very weak, or have a corrupted chain of narration.
