Why did Allah Almighty speak to Musa (Moses), peace be upon him?

Allah Almighty chose Moses (peace be upon him) by speaking to him directly, a unique privilege not granted to anyone else, as stated in His saying: "Indeed, I have chosen you above the people with My messages and My words," and His saying: "And Allah spoke to Moses with [direct] speech." This is evidence that the direct speech he received is more specific than the general revelation granted to others, and it is a distinction for him through this uniqueness. Allah Almighty favors some prophets over others, and He possesses perfect wisdom in doing so, and He is not to be questioned about what He does.
