Is a wife considered irrevocably divorced according to Islamic law if the husband pronounces divorce three times, intending to calm her down or threaten her, rather than to end the marriage, and without having the intention of divorce in any of the pronouncements?

If a husband utters an explicit divorce pronouncement, such as "You are divorced," it takes effect regardless of his intention, even if his aim was to merely calm his wife. Divorce also takes effect in a state of anger, as long as the husband is aware of what he is saying. If this explicit pronouncement is repeated three times, the wife becomes irrevocably divorced with a major, irreversible divorce, and she is not permissible for her husband until she marries another man and he divorces her. It is advisable to go to the Sharia court to resolve the matter and to avoid anger.
