How is inheritance divided among a mother, a son, and three daughters?

If the deceased leaves behind only a mother, a son, and daughters, the mother receives one-sixth as a prescribed share due to the presence of a lineal descendant, based on the verse: "And for his parents, each of them is to have a sixth of what he leaves if he has a child." The remainder goes to the son and daughters by right of residuary inheritance, with the male receiving the equivalent of the share of two females, based on the verse: "Allah instructs you concerning your children: for the male, what is equal to the share of two females." Thus, the inheritance is divided into six shares: one share for the mother, two shares for the son, and one share for each daughter. It is advisable to refer inheritance matters to the Sharia (definition) courts for review, as there may be wills, debts, or rights that take precedence over the rights of the heirs.
