Does one become an infidel if they believe that what is forbidden becomes permissible out of necessity, instead of merely having the accountability lifted?

One who believes that something unlawful becomes lawful in a state of necessity does not commit an act of disbelief (kufr). This is because scholars have explicitly stated that forbidden things are permissible in times of necessity, citing as evidence Allah’s saying: "And He has already explained to you what He has forbidden to you, except for that to which you are compelled" [Al-An'am: 119], and His saying: "But whoever is compelled, neither desiring [it] nor transgressing, there is no sin upon him" [Al-Baqarah: 173]. Scholars have reached a consensus on this, and some have even gone so far as to say that eating is obligatory when there is a fear of perishing.
