Is it permissible to complete the Quran with recitation and interpretation at the same time?

If a Muslim recites verses or surahs and then reads their interpretation, this is permissible and prescribed, and may even yield greater reward than reciting the Quran without contemplation. This was the method of the righteous predecessors.
