What is the ruling on cooking in iron or copper pots whose handles are silver-plated for adornment, and which the food does not touch?

The relied-upon opinion among us regarding the ruling on using and possessing utensils plated with gold or silver, not those made entirely of them, is as follows: If the gold or silver content in them is negligible, such that if exposed to fire, nothing could be extracted from it, then there is no harm in using it. However, it is more cautious to avoid it to steer clear of disagreement. But if the gold or silver content in them is such that if exposed to fire, gold or silver could be extracted from it, then it is impermissible to use it. This applies to utensils used for cooking.
