A woman is not permitted to travel to visit her parents without her husband’s permission, especially if the parents live far away. Some madhhabs (schools of thought) permit a woman to go out to visit her parents without her husband’s permission if it does not involve travel. A wife has the right to an independent dwelling, and her husband does not have the right to force her to live with his parents.
