The answer

Muslims fast the month of Ramadan in obedience to Allah Almighty's command in the Holy Qur’an, and as an act of worship to Him, which is among the deeds beloved to Him. Fasting is a test from Allah for those who are accountable, to determine the extent of their compliance with His commands. Fasting is a refraining from beloved things and an avoidance of forbidden things. The ultimate goal of fasting is to achieve piety and worship of Allah the Almighty, and for the fasting person to abstain from false speech and acting upon it, and to avoid all forbidden things.
