Is saliva spattered from a sneeze excused? Is it permissible to touch the Mushaf (Qur'an) or a book in which Allah's name is mentioned, if something from saliva has splattered on it, or if the Mushaf has been placed on it? What is the ruling on sweat, and is it considered impure like saliva? Is it obligatory to clean the Mushaf from it?

Nasal discharge and saliva are pure (tahirin), but they are considered repulsive. The Mushaf (definition) (Qur'an) must be venerated and kept clean. Some scholars have forbidden soiling it with saliva or placing it on an unclean surface, deeming it an act of disbelief (kufr) if done with the intention of disrespect. Others have permitted touching the Mushaf with saliva or removing writing with spit, as long as there is no intention of disrespect. Nevertheless, it is prudent to refrain from touching the Mushaf with anything impure or placing it on such a surface, out of reverence for the Book of Allah the Almighty.
