What is the wisdom behind kissing the Black Stone, and why is kissing it not considered kissing an idol?

The inactivity of Sunni Muslims in da'wah (preaching/calling to Islam) puts them in a defensive position. Therefore, a Muslim must arm himself with religious knowledge to repel falsehoods and spread the correct methodology. There are differences between kissing the Black Stone and kissing shrines. Kissing the Black Stone is established by the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him); he kissed it and commanded his Ummah to follow his guidance in Hajj. It expiates sins and will bear witness for those who touched it on the Day of Resurrection. As for kissing shrines, it leads to exaggeration (ghuluw), which is forbidden by Islamic law. Muslims kiss the Black Stone as an act of worship to Allah and in adherence to the Sunnah, while idolaters worship their idols and believe in them.
