What is the description of the Eid prayer?

The Eid prayer consists of two rak'ahs. The Imam begins it with the Takbirat al-Ihram, then pronounces six or seven additional takbirs in the first rak'ah. He recites Surat "Qaf" after Al-Fatiha. In the second rak'ah, he pronounces five takbirs after the takbir of standing, and recites Surat "Iqtarabat al-Sa'ah" (The Hour has drawn near) after Al-Fatiha. Alternatively, he may recite Surat "Sabbih Isma Rabbika al-A'la" (Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High) in the first rak'ah and "Al-Ghashiyah" (The Overwhelming Event) in the second. The Sunnah is for the prayer to precede the sermon, and a portion of the sermon should be dedicated to women.
