What is the solution to my problem, which consists of distraction, fatigue, lack of focus, hesitation, repeated failure to complete an engagement, delayed marriage, feeling lazy in worship, and the corruption of some matters in my life, along with a suspicion of being afflicted by envy (hasad) or jinn possession (mass), knowing that I supplicate to Allah and hope for a response?

Delay in marriage and other matters are among the decrees of Allah. Maintaining remembrance (adhkar) and ruqya (incantations) are prescribed for protection and treatment against magic and envy, but one should not be hasty in attributing problems to them. Rather, one should look at the apparent causes and strive to remedy them. "If a person feels the slightest illness, they say this is the evil eye, this is magic, and so on. These delusions then develop into knots in their soul, and then become a real illness."

If a calamity befalls a servant, they should blame themselves and renew their repentance, for sins are a cause of affliction. "So, when a believer is afflicted by a calamity in this world, they turn to themselves with blame, and that calls them to return to Allah with repentance and seeking forgiveness."

Neglecting prayer is a great sin and a cause of corruption of the heart and disquiet of the soul. "And seek help through patience and prayer, and indeed, it is difficult except for the humble [in prayer]." Through patience and prayer, there is great assistance in every matter.

One must hasten to repent and maintain prayer, and not pay attention to the whispers and doubts of Satan regarding it. One should also frequently engage in remembrance of Allah (dhikr) and supplication (du'a) with a present heart and good expectation of Allah. "Supplicate to Allah while you are certain of being answered, and know that Allah does not answer a supplication from a heedless, inattentive heart."

Beware of hastening the response or despairing of supplication. "Your supplication will be answered as long as you do not hasten, saying: 'I supplicated, but I was not answered.'" The answering of supplication is not limited to the fulfillment of what is requested only; rather, it may be hastened, or reserved for the hereafter, or by it, evil may be averted.
