Is the Hadith: "When the Day of Resurrection comes, Allah, blessed and exalted, will spread His mercy until even Iblis covets His mercy" authentic?
The narration circulated in this form is among what is transmitted by some books of the people of innovation (Ahl al-Bid'ah), and their narrations are not to be given attention to due to their leniency in lying. However, it was reported with a different wording by Al-Tabarani in "Al-Mu'jam al-Kabir" and "Al-Mu'jam al-Awsat" and others, on the authority of Hudhayfah, elevated (marfu'): "By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, Allah will surely admit the dissolute in his religion, the foolish in his livelihood, into Paradise. By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, Allah will surely admit a believer whom the Fire has singed into Paradise. By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, Allah will surely forgive on the Day of Resurrection with a forgiveness that has not occurred to the heart of any human. By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, Allah will surely forgive on the Day of Resurrection with a forgiveness that Iblis will stretch out for, hoping it might reach him."
The chain of narration for this report is weak.
