It is not permissible for a Muslim woman to work in places where she mixes with men, due to the corruption that arises from such mixing. This is only allowed in cases of extreme necessity, provided she adheres to the Islamic guidelines, such as covering herself, lowering her gaze, not displaying her adornment, not speaking in a soft and alluring manner, and being cautious of shaking hands or being in seclusion [with a non- man]. A husband has the right to compel his wife to leave mixed-gender work if he perceives any suspicion in it, especially if the woman is not in need of the work.
