The answer

If a trusted Muslim doctor determines that fasting would harm the patient, then it is permissible to take advantage of Allah's concession and break the fast, because Allah loves for His concessions to be utilized. If the illness is one from which recovery is not expected, the patient should break their fast and feed a needy person for each day. But if the illness is one from which recovery is expected, the patient should break their fast and make up the missed fasts after recovery.
