How is inheritance divided among 3 sons, a daughter, and a wife?

If the deceased leaves behind only a wife, sons, and a daughter, then the wife receives one-eighth (1/8) due to the presence of lineal descendants, as Allah the Almighty says: ﴿But if you have a child, then for them (the wives) is one-eighth of what you leave﴾. The remaining portion goes to the sons and the daughter by way of ta'sib (residuary inheritance), with the male receiving the share of two females, as Allah the Almighty says: ﴿Allah instructs you concerning your children: for the male, what is equal to the share of two females.﴾ Thus, the inheritance is divided into eight shares: the wife receives one share, each son receives two shares, and the daughter receives one share. We advise that matters of inheritance be brought before the Sharia courts for investigation and to ensure that there are no other heirs, wills, or debts that take precedence over the rights of the heirs.
