There is no upper limit for the dowry, and this is supported by the Almighty's saying: "And if you wish to replace one wife with another and you have given one of them a qintar, do not take anything back from it." However, it is preferable to keep the dowry light and not be excessive in it, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Among the blessings of a woman is the ease of her engagement and the ease of her dowry," and he also said: "Verily, the greatest marriage in blessing is that which is easiest in expenditure." The deferred dowry is part of the dowry, and the wife has the right to take it whenever she wishes. The insistence of each party on their position regarding the deferred dowry does not involve sin, provided there is no oppression of the woman or prevention of the man from marriage.
