Is a supplication coupled with a vow to draw nearer to Allah through charities or acts of obedience more likely to be answered than a supplication alone?

Among the greatest means for prayers to be answered and needs to be fulfilled are fearing Allah (taqwa (definition)), obeying Him, and drawing closer to Him through supererogatory acts after obligatory ones, and through good deeds that please Him. As for vows (nadhr (definition)), the predominant view is that they are disliked (makruh (definition)), especially if contingent upon the fulfillment of a need, due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) prohibition of them when he said: "Indeed, it brings forth no good, but it is only used to extract [something] from a miser." Furthermore, a vow may impose duties upon a person that he is unable to fulfill.
