Yes, reading knowledge (of Islam) carries immense reward, for knowledge is derived from the Quran and Sunnah. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, encouraged learning and reciting the Quran, explaining its great virtue, and that each letter recited brings ten good deeds. Similarly, learning and studying the Sunnah carries immense reward because it falls under seeking knowledge, by which Allah eases a path to Paradise. Deep understanding of the religion from the Book (Quran) and Sunnah is a sign that Allah intends good for His servant.
