What is incumbent upon me after I intended to perform Umrah on behalf of my grandmother and entered into the state of Ihram, but was unable to complete it? Am I considered to be in the ruling of one who is prevented from proceeding, and is a sacrifice incumbent upon me?

Whoever embarks on a ritual of Hajj or Umrah, whether obligatory or voluntary, is not permitted to exit the state of ihram until they complete their ritual, by consensus. Mere intention is not sufficient for making a condition; rather, it must be verbally expressed. In this case, the questioner must remain in her state of ihram, refrain from the prohibitions of ihram, and then go to Makkah to complete the ritual. If she is unable, then she is considered prevented (muhsara), and she must slaughter a sacrificial animal (hady) and shorten her hair. If she cannot afford it, she must fast for ten days.
