Is it a sin for a girl to love a boy from afar?

Emotional attachment between the sexes is a blight that corrupts religion, mind, and body. For this reason, Sharia has been keen to block all avenues leading to it.

If a man's heart becomes attached to a woman, even if she is permissible for him, he becomes her captive. This attachment afflicts hearts empty of the love of God, causing them to be filled with the love of others, and it may lead its possessor to polytheism (shirk).

It is incumbent upon a Muslim to protect himself from this ruin by avoiding its causes. Whoever is lenient in this matter and falls victim to obsessive love is sinful.

However, if one is diligent in lowering his gaze and diverting his thoughts, and then is afflicted by some spark of this illness due to a permissible circumstance, there is no sin upon him. He must then treat his heart by disconnecting from the beloved's influence and increasing his love for God. If he remains chaste and patient through the pain of obsessive love, he will be rewarded for his piety.
