Is the questioner's scrupulousness regarding matters of ritual impurity (najasa) and purity (tahara), and her imagination that everything around her is ritually impure, as well as her doubt after performing istinja' (washing after relieving oneself) about the type of discharge, considered an act of excessive strictness (tanattu') that she must abandon?

Obsessive whispering (waswasa) is one of the most dangerous ailments that corrupt both one's religious practice and worldly life. Therefore, all such whispers must be abandoned, and no attention should be paid to them. Nothing should be judged impure except with absolute certainty. If you act upon this, the whispers will gradually disappear. Do not pay attention to doubts about the discharge of semen during istinja (definition)' (washing after relieving oneself). Know that the religion is easy, and Allah has not placed any hardship in it. Do not be overly meticulous in matters of purity, for excessive strictness in this regard is a cause of waswasa and blameworthy extremism (tanattu'), which some scholars have even considered an innovation (bid'ah).
