Is it permissible to buy characters in games and sell them at a higher price, or to bet on them such that one gains money upon winning and loses the character upon losing, or gains money upon winning and loses nothing upon losing?

Trading game add-ons—such as characters and the like—is a subsidiary of the

ruling on the game itself. If the game is permissible, then it is permissible to

trade these add-ons, provided that the item being sold is known and all other

conditions of sale are met. There is no objection to selling them for a price

higher than their purchase price. However, betting on them is not permissible,

as it falls under prohibited gambling.
