Is listening to the Quran obligatory when it is recited, and does the Sunnah of "Tahiyyat al-Masjid" (greeting the mosque) lapse because of it, and which takes precedence: greeting the mosque or a lesson in knowledge?

Scholars have differed on the ruling regarding listening attentively to the recitation of the Quran, presenting three views: it is mustahabb (recommended), which is the view of the majority; it is fard kifayah (a collective obligation), which is the adopted view of the Hanafis; and it is fard ayn (an individual obligation), which is the view of some Hanafis. The Hanafis cite as evidence Allah’s saying: "So when the Quran is recited, then listen to it and pay attention that you may receive mercy" [Al-A'raf:204]. The majority responded that the verse refers to prayer, and that greeting the mosque ( tahiyyat al-masjid) is recommended and takes precedence over sitting in a gathering of knowledge.
