Is it obligatory to grieve and self-flagellate over wearing clothing that does not conform to the Sharia requirements, despite intending to allocate a monthly sum of money to gradually purchase clothing that does conform to the Sharia requirements?

The Islamic dress code (hijab) is that which achieves concealment through thick clothing that does not describe or define the body. Any clothing that fulfills these conditions is considered a legitimate hijab. Sincere repentance is required for any previous negligence in dress, and negative thoughts and ill-will towards Allah must be abandoned, for Allah is more merciful to His servant than a mother is to her child. The sorrow of a sinner over his sin, if sincere in his repentance, is a path to salvation, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "And weep over your sin."
