The answer

Illness is not an excuse to abandon prayer as long as one's intellect is present. The sick person prays according to their condition: standing, sitting, or on their side, or by gesturing with the head or eyes. Prayer is not waived for them as long as their intellect is sound. They should perform ablution if able; otherwise, they perform tayammum. They should remove impurities if able; otherwise, they pray in their current state. Missed prayers must be made up immediately and in order, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The debt owed to Allah is more deserving of being fulfilled." If intellect is lost during that period due to unconsciousness or similar conditions, the stronger opinion is that making up the prayers is not obligatory, though making them up is more cautious.
