The answer

Among the conditions for the validity of wiping over leather slippers (khuffayn) or socks (jawrabayn) is wearing them after having performed ritual purification (tahara). If this condition is not met, the wiping is invalid. In this case, the person performing ablution (mutawaddi') must remove them and wash their feet; otherwise, their prayer will be invalid, because purity (tahara) is a condition for the validity of prayer. Prayers performed while wiping over socks that were worn without having first achieved ritual purity must be repeated.
