What should one do upon witnessing some scholars disparaging others?

The fundamental principle among scholars is to have a pure heart and mutual affection. At times, a non-intentional error might lead to criticism among them. It is obligatory to think the best of them, maintain loyalty to all of them, avoid discussing their mutual disagreements, benefit from their knowledge, overlook their mistakes, interpret their actions in the best possible light, and refine oneself.

Indeed, Al-Hafiz Al-Dhahabi and Taj Al-Din Al-Subki clarified that the criticism peers direct at each other should not be given credence, especially if it stems from animosity, sectarian differences, or envy. It is obligatory to show respect towards past imams and not delve into their disagreements.

Distinguishing between scholars should be done by those who are their peers or superior in knowledge. The seeker of knowledge should focus on self-improvement, benefit from all scholars, and overlook any mutual criticism that may occur between them.
