Is it true that Mu'awiyah was ill-mannered with the Messenger of Allah, may Allah’s peace and blessings be upon him, and did not answer him when he called him while he was eating, whereupon he said: "May Allah never fill his stomach"?

This statement is a slander against Mu'awiyah, may Allah be pleased with him. No ill manners or disobedience to the command of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, have been authentically reported from him. As for the hadith: "May Allah not fill his belly," Al-Hafiz Al-Dhahabi said in "Tadhkirat Al-Huffaz": "Perhaps this is a virtue for Mu'awiyah." And Al-Nawawi said that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, would sometimes supplicate unintentionally, and he would ask Allah to make his supplication a mercy, an expiation, and a reward for the one supplicated against, and this supplication is considered a virtue for Mu'awiyah. Sheikh Al-Albani also mentioned that this supplication was not intended, but rather was part of the Arabs' customary way of speaking, and that it stemmed from the Prophet's human nature, peace and blessings be upon him.
