To what extent is it valid to estimate a specific time for the notional combining of two prayers for a person afflicted with incontinence, and was the ablution for the Maghrib prayer invalid if it was performed a certain period before the end of Maghrib time?

Combining two prayers requires performing them consecutively. If there is a long interval between the two prayers, as is customarily understood, then the combination is not valid. However, a figurative (or apparent) combination is permitted for the excused person, by finishing the first prayer and then starting the second without a long interruption.

The opinion that a figurative combination is valid for a person with urinary incontinence using a single ablution has been adopted by some scholars. However, it is safer to follow the view of the majority of scholars, who agree on the invalidity of the purification of a person with incontinence upon the entry of the time for the next obligatory prayer.

The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded Hamnah to combine the Dhuhr and Asr prayers with a single ablution, which indicates the permissibility of a figurative combination.

According to the majority of scholars, an excused person performs only one obligatory prayer with their ablution, along with any supererogatory prayers. They must perform a new ablution for each subsequent prayer.

The Maliki school holds that the ablution of an excused person is not invalidated by the exit of the prayer time at all.
