What is the ruling on working temporarily for an insurance company, given the unavailability of any other source of livelihood and the difficulty of finding work?

Working for commercial insurance companies is forbidden except in cases of necessity and extreme need. One must seek out other permissible work and transition to it as soon as it becomes available, based on Allah’s saying: "And He has already explained to you what He has forbidden to you, except for that to which you are compelled." Necessity is defined as a state of danger or severe hardship where there is a fear of harm befalling oneself, one's limb, honor, intellect, or wealth.
