Is a man's leaving his wealth and property to his children for them to benefit from considered an ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah) for him?

Leaving an inheritance for children is a good and religiously permissible act, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "It is better for you to leave your heirs wealthy than to leave them poor, begging from people."

This does not mean excessive accumulation of wealth or abandoning charity. The wealth that benefits a person in the Afterlife is what he has offered seeking Allah's pleasure, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Your true wealth is what you have sent forth, and your heir's wealth is what you have left behind."

Ongoing charity (Sadaqah Jariyah) is what a person dedicates during their lifetime, and it includes endowments (waqf). It does not include money left for heirs.
