Does the "qawamah" mentioned in the Holy Qur’an have conditions, and is it conditional upon obedience, and what should a Muslim husband do if his wife disobeys him?

A husband's guardianship over his wife primarily means protecting her and disciplining her when she deviates. Allah Almighty has clarified that guardianship is established for the husband due to His favor upon him and his financial support for her. A man's financial support is contingent upon her obedience to him in what is good. If she rebels, she is not entitled to maintenance. Allah Almighty has clarified the way to rectify her in His statement: "As for those from whom you fear disloyalty and ill-conduct, admonish them, and abandon them in bed, and strike them. But if they obey you, do not seek a way against them. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted, All-Great." [An-Nisa: 34].
