What is the ruling on a wife's obedience to her husband if he is mistaken in his command, and is he permitted to prevent her from doing the matter?

A wife's obedience to her husband is one of the great obligations, based on the Almighty's saying: (Men are the maintainers of women) [Quran 4:34]. However, this obedience is restricted by three conditions:

1. It must not be in a matter that involves disobedience to Islamic law, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There is no obedience in sin; indeed, obedience is only in what is good." 2. It must be within the wife's capacity and not cause her harm, based on the Almighty's saying: (Allah does not burden a soul beyond its scope) [Quran 2:286]. 3. It is not obligatory except in matters of marriage and what pertains to it. She is not obligated to obey him in everything he commands.

The fundamental principle in the relationship between spouses is good companionship and overlooking minor faults.
