Does the sacrifice protect its offerer from calamities and dangers, and what are the benefits of ritual slaughter?

The sacrifice (Udhiyah) is a Sunnah according to the majority of scholars. There are injunctions to perform it and prohibitions against neglecting it for those who are able, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever has the means but does not offer a sacrifice, let him not approach our Musalla." This is a punishment of expulsion from gatherings of good. The sacrifice may also be a cause for the safety of its performer from calamities if he gives charity from it, because charity is among the means of repelling affliction, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Treat your sick with charity." Adhering to this Sunnah brings great benefits and abundant virtues, and many hadiths have been narrated regarding its فضائل (virtues), but they are considered weak by scholars.
