What should a mother do who, in a moment of anger, invoked destruction upon her daughter, while admitting her remorse and her desire to protect her, after her 15-year-old daughter repeatedly lied?

Allah has made it obligatory upon parents to raise their children upon faith and good morals, and commanded them to be patient with them. Good example, supplication (dua), and righteous deeds should be present, for "their father was righteous," preserving the children. The cure for lying is not through harshness, but by understanding its motives and overcoming them, and warning children against lying, which "leads to wickedness," and encouraging them to truthfulness, which "leads to righteousness." "The foundation of faith is truthfulness, and the foundation of hypocrisy is lying." Supplicating against children is forbidden; rather, one should supplicate for their rectitude and forgiveness for their mistakes, and guide them. "We hope that no sin will be incurred by you, nor any harm befall her" if the supplication was made in a state of anger.
