What is the ruling on one who divorces his wife with a single pronouncement, saying: "You are divorced," while in a state of anger and not intending separation but rather a threat? What are the limits of interaction with her if the divorce occurred and it was a revocable single divorce? Should he sleep next to her or separately? Is it permissible for him to kiss her? Should she leave the house with his permission or not? And if they wish to travel, is it permissible for him to take her with him?

An explicit divorce takes effect merely by uttering it, and does not require intention. Scholars differ on how to deal with a revocable divorcee. The Hanafis and Hanbalis hold that she is like a wife in terms of theibility of enjoying her, being in seclusion with her, and traveling with her. Revocation may occur through a kiss or a touch with desire according to the Hanafis. As for the Shafi'is and Malikis, they hold that she is a stranger and it is not permissible to enjoy her except after reconciliation. They also differ on theable divorcee leaving during her waiting period (iddah). The Shafi'is and Hanafis do not permit her to leave except with her husband's permission or out of necessity, whereas the Malikis and Hanbalis permit her to leave during the day for her needs, while requiring her to stay home at night.
