"The ' (sacrifice for a newborn) is a confirmed , and it is a ritual of Islam. It is not sufficient to cook the remaining meat of an animal sacrificed for or any other purpose, nor is it permissible to pay its value instead. As for sharing the cost of an Udhiyah, it is not permissible if the sacrifice is a sheep. However, it is permissible for up to seven people to share the cost if the sacrifice is a cow or a camel."
