"Humility (khushu') in prayer is its essence and core, and one of the causes of a servant's success. It is not a condition for the validity of prayer according to the majority of scholars, but its reward diminishes or vanishes without it. Humility in reciting the Quran is not a condition for receiving reward, but the most complete way is to recite with humility and contemplation. Dhikr (remembrance of Allah) with presence of heart and humility is better. The acceptance of good deeds is a matter of the unseen, known only to Allah."
