Does delaying prayer beyond its prescribed time to follow a religious program lead to committing a sin?

If delaying the prayer beyond its time until it is completely missed, then it is among the gravest prohibitions and its warning is severe. Scholars have interpreted Allah's saying: (There succeeded them [evil] generations who neglected prayers and pursued desires; so they are going to meet evil) as delaying them beyond their prescribed times. As for delaying the prayer from the beginning of its time, there is no harm in it, except that it misses the virtue of praying at the earliest time. It is not appropriate to forfeit this virtue for the sake of following programs. This applies to all prayers except the 'Isha prayer, for which it is preferable to delay it until the first third of the night.
