A man accidentally ran over a child, so what is incumbent upon him to do? May Allah reward you.
Accidental killing is what occurs without the intention of the act and the person, or without the intention of one of them. There are two obligatory requirements: First, the blood money (diyah) is paid to the heirs of the deceased, and its amount is one thousand gold dinars, borne by his 'Aqilah, who are his paternal relatives. Second, expiation (kaffarah), which is fasting for two consecutive months. If the slain person was a believer from a believing people, then both blood money and expiation are due. If he was a believer from a disbelieving people, then if they were people of covenant, both blood money and expiation are due; but if they were people of war, then only expiation is due.
